A garlic spice oil distillation plant is a specialized facility designed to extract essential oil from the cloves (bulbs) of Allium sativum, commonly known as garlic. Garlic oil is valued for its strong, pungent aroma and potent medicinal properties, including antimicrobial, antiviral, and cardiovascular benefits. It is widely used in pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, and flavoring industries.
The extraction process primarily employs steam distillation or sometimes solvent extraction depending on the desired oil quality. In steam distillation, cleaned and crushed garlic cloves are loaded into a stainless steel distillation chamber. Steam passes through the material under controlled conditions, vaporizing the volatile compounds. The steam-oil vapor is then condensed, and the oil separates from the hydrosol. The collected oil is filtered and stored in airtight containers to maintain its potency and aroma.
Modern garlic oil distillation plants are equipped with high-efficiency boilers, stainless steel distillation units, condensers, oil separators, and automated control systems for temperature and pressure to optimize oil yield and quality. Due to garlic oil’s strong odor and chemical nature, special handling and safety measures are incorporated in the plant design. The resulting oil contains compounds like allicin and diallyl disulfide, responsible for its characteristic therapeutic effects.
