A Holy Basil (Tulsi) extraction plant is a specialized facility dedicated to extracting essential oil and valuable phytochemicals from the leaves and stems of the Ocimum sanctum plant, commonly known as Tulsi or Holy Basil. Renowned for its aromatic, spicy, and slightly sweet fragrance, Tulsi oil is highly valued for its medicinal properties, including antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and adaptogenic benefits.
The extraction is primarily done through steam distillation, where fresh Tulsi leaves and stems are loaded into stainless steel distillation chambers. Steam passes through the plant material, vaporizing the volatile compounds, which are then condensed and separated to obtain pure essential oil. The oil is filtered and stored under controlled conditions to preserve its potency and aroma.
Modern Tulsi extraction plants are equipped with efficient boilers, corrosion-resistant distillation units, condensers, and oil separators, along with automated controls for temperature and pressure to optimize yield and maintain quality. The oil contains key constituents such as eugenol, methyl eugenol, and cineole, which contribute to its therapeutic effects. The plant operates under strict quality, hygiene, and safety standards to produce high-grade Tulsi oil used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, aromatherapy, and traditional medicines.
