A Cajeput oil distillation plant is a specialized facility designed to extract essential oil from the leaves and twigs of the cajeput tree (Melaleuca cajuputi). Cajeput oil is known for its strong, camphoraceous aroma and is widely valued for its antiseptic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is commonly used in medicinal ointments, balms, cosmetics, and aromatherapy.
The extraction process primarily uses steam distillation. Freshly harvested leaves and small branches are loaded into stainless steel distillation chambers, where steam passes through the plant material, vaporizing the volatile aromatic compounds. The vapors are condensed, and the essential oil is separated from the hydrosol in a Florentine separator. The collected oil is filtered and stored in airtight containers to maintain its potency and fragrance.
Modern cajeput oil distillation plants are equipped with efficient boilers, corrosion-resistant distillation vessels, condensers, and automated control systems to ensure consistent oil quality and maximize yield. The essential oil contains key components like cineole (eucalyptol), alpha-terpineol, and limonene, which contribute to its characteristic scent and therapeutic benefits. The plant follows strict hygiene and quality standards, producing high-purity oil suitable for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and therapeutic applications.
