A cardamom oil distillation plant is a specialized facility designed to extract essential oil from the dried seeds and pods of Elettaria cardamomum, commonly known as green cardamom. Cardamom oil is prized for its strong, sweet, and aromatic fragrance, widely used in flavoring, perfumery, and traditional medicine for its digestive and therapeutic properties.
The extraction process primarily involves steam distillation. The cleaned and dried cardamom pods are crushed or slightly broken and loaded into a stainless steel distillation chamber. Steam is passed through the material under controlled temperature and pressure, vaporizing the essential oils. The vapor mixture is then condensed, and the essential oil separates from the hydrosol. The collected oil is filtered and stored in airtight containers to preserve its aroma and quality.
Modern cardamom oil distillation plants are equipped with efficient boilers, stainless steel distillation units, condensers, oil separators, and automated control systems to ensure optimal oil yield and purity. The oil contains key compounds such as cineole, terpinene, and limonene, contributing to its distinctive scent and therapeutic benefits. The plant adheres to strict hygiene and safety standards, making it suitable for food-grade, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic applications.
