Oak Galls (Galls) Color Extraction Plant

Oak galls, formed on oak trees by gall wasp larvae, are rich in tannins and gallic acid, which are valuable natural compounds used for producing dark brown to black dyes and inks. Setting up a color extraction plant for oak galls involves processing dried galls to extract these pigments efficiently and sustainably. The process starts with cleaning and grinding the dried oak galls into coarse powder. Extraction is typically performed using hot water or aqueous alkaline solutions under controlled temperature and pH to maximize tannin and pigment yield. Advanced extraction methods such as ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) or maceration can be implemented to improve efficiency. The extract is then filtered, concentrated, and dried to obtain stable tannin-rich colorants suitable for applications in textile dyeing, leather tanning, ink manufacturing, and natural dye production. The plant design includes equipment like grinders, extraction tanks with temperature and pH controls, filtration units, and dryers or evaporators for concentration. Maintaining precise process parameters ensures high-quality pigment extraction with consistent color strength.
