A white camphor distillation plant is a facility that extracts white camphor oil from the wood of the camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora) using steam distillation followed by fractional separation. The process involves chipping and drying the camphor wood, then exposing it to steam in a distillation vessel to release its volatile compounds. The condensed vapors are separated into different oil fractions—white, blue, and brown—based on their boiling points. White camphor oil, the lightest and most refined fraction, is collected for use in medicinal balms, inhalants, aromatherapy, and personal care products due to its fresh, penetrating scent and therapeutic properties. The plant is designed to carefully control temperatures and processes to ensure safety and purity, excluding harmful components like safrole found in heavier fractions. Sustainable sourcing from pruned branches or wood waste further enhances the environmental responsibility of white camphor oil production.
