Tomar Seed Oil Distillation Plant

A Tomar seed oil distillation plant is a facility dedicated to extracting essential oil from the seeds of Jatropha curcas, commonly known as Tomar or physic nut. The seeds are rich in oil that is primarily used for biofuel production, medicinal purposes, and in industrial applications such as soap making and lubricants.

The extraction process typically involves steam distillation or cold pressing, depending on the desired quality and end use of the oil. In a steam distillation setup, cleaned and dried Tomar seeds are placed in a distillation chamber where steam passes through, vaporizing the volatile compounds. The steam and oil vapors are then condensed, and the oil is separated from the water. Alternatively, mechanical pressing is often used to extract crude oil, which can then be refined further.

Modern Tomar seed oil distillation plants are equipped with stainless steel boilers, distillation columns, condensers, separators, and temperature control systems to optimize oil yield and maintain purity. The plant design also incorporates safety measures due to the toxic nature of some seed components. Tomar seed oil contains bioactive compounds and is gaining attention as a sustainable source for biodiesel production, making such plants vital in renewable energy sectors.
